The Shadow
The Shadow
The first time I watched The Shadow, Jerry Goldsmith's amazing score stood out to me. It blends mystery, adventure, evil, and romance all together, which fits perfectly for this cinematic adaptation of the magazine and radio drama from the 1930's. The Shadow soundtrack was one of the first CD's I owned and I listened to it over and over. I'm pleased to present Part 1 of my arrangement of the extended score.
"The Poppy Fields" plays during the main titles of The Shadow, providing its mysterious theme right off the bat. I remember immediately liking the score as soon as I heard it when I watched the movie for the first time. It's too bad there's not a good way to replicate the eerie pitch slides on the piano, but it's still fun to play nonetheless.
Jerry Goldsmith is one of my favorite composers, and I love the mysterious themes he uses in the soundtrack of The Shadow. "The Hotel" is one of those songs that has a lot of parts that are fun to play, especially when the main theme is heard.
